Open the Window

For this video essay, my aim was to display my experience of being of two worlds, connected by one because of heritage and connected to the other because of land. Both parts of my culture have felt as if I am learning from a window, as my parents immigrated to America with little to no knowledge of Florida and learning came from my school and my parents. I used collage and montage methods, collecting footage and images from my mother’s Facebook or from academic sources, to further express the disorientation of learning from a distance.
